Swiss watches were still popular up until now, but Chinese watches today rose to fame, thanks to their affordable and some quality watches.
One particular brand is Skmei. They create watches similar to Gshock and Casio with an affordable tag. In general, most of their watches are “homages”.
I asked the Reddit watch community about some budget watch recommendations since I’m planning to buy a new one, and this brand is one of their recommendations. For $3, it’s a good deal.
I’m trying to find a watch online to gift myself this New Year and luckily, I saw this watch notably for the price and design since this is a homage to the Casio WS-1600H, but a cheaper one this time.

The package didn’t come with a box but rather just a plastic, soft foam packaging and bubble wrap. The watch also came with an instruction manual for watch operation. I bought the stainless steel one because it’s cheaper than the TPU variation. There are also five colour variations ranging from Black, White, Green, Gold, and Silver.

Dimensions
The Skmei 2307 has a dial diameter of 42.9 mm and a lug to lug of 45mm. The lug width is about 18mm. The case is made of ABS resin and has a thickness of 13.3 mm and weighs 81.7 grams. The strap is of stainless steel with a folding link and folding clasp.
Features
The watch features regular timekeeping along with the day of the week, date, month, and year that can be set up to 2099. It also includes an Alarm, Stopwatch, Timer, EL backlight, and a Dual Time zone feature. On top of that, the 2307 also features a 50m water resistant.
Display
On the top display of the watch, there are two gauge displays, one with a yellow background with number markings of 2, 4, 6, and 8 and the other white with the same number markings of 10, 30, and 50. On the right of the two gauges, there’s a small box resembling a mini analogue clock display that also changes randomly like the two on the top. The display can be seen clearly from all angles. About the backlight, it features a blue electroluminescent which is nice due to its vivid display visibility in the dark.
Case
The case and the bezel are made from ABS resin with a decent finish and doesn’t t look or feel cheap at all. The back case is a stainless steel with the laser-etched logo of Skmei in the middle, 5atm water resistant, and a battery code of CR2025. Regarding the battery life, I’m not sure about it. Maybe 2-5 years?

Overall, this is a nice and sporty-looking watch, but really, you can’t complain about the price. I’d recommend this watch to my fellow students who are looking for a budget watch. Well, if you’ve saved enough, there’s always a better choice. I haven’t tested the quality yet since I haven’t worn them but from the looks, they seem durable enough to handle daily activities.
